Gary Lee Doan was born on a winter day in Kokomo, Indiana, the first child born to Elmer Lee Doan and Mary Alice Harris after their marriage. He came into the world on January 12, 1945, and in his short time here, he brought joy to all who held him. His baby pictures show a gentle spirit—wide-eyed, curious, and full of promise.

Gary’s life was heartbreakingly brief. After just over a year with his family, he passed away on February 3, 1946, at St. Joseph Hospital due to bronchial pneumonia. He was laid to rest at Crown Point Cemetery in Kokomo.

“Among the keepsakes lovingly saved is the first page of Gary’s funeral book, along with the signatures of those who came to say farewell. These pages, once touched by grieving hands, now rest here as part of his story, forever remembered.”
